Electrician I

Responsibilities

• Mount and wire electrical equipment on custom fire apparatus, including lights, generator sets, and intercom systems
• Route wiring harnesses throughout the truck body using small hand tools
• Read and interpret complex electrical schematic diagrams to diagnose and troubleshoot problem areas
• Run wire in conduit and use tools such as fish tape, crimpers, and side cutters
• Follow all company safety policies, including the use of PPE like safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate with department leaders regarding parts inventory

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and maintain good physical condition for standing, bending, and climbing
• Proficiency in reading a tape measure and understanding simple blueprints or shop orders
• Ability to understand electrical schematics and basic electronic controls
• Experience using various hand tools and basic electrical tools
• Ability to work in a noisy manufacturing environment and work overtime as needed
