Electrician 1st Class

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building electrical equipment and fixtures consistent with manufacturer guidelines and design parameters
• Install electrical fixtures including services, conduit, panels, motor starters, and control panels
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, life, and fire safety systems, including 208 and 480 volt single and three-phase systems
• Perform preventative maintenance on residential and commercial-type electrical equipment
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Operate medium voltage (5-35kv) and low voltage (600v and less) systems, including MV/LV switchgear and associated controls
• Coordinate repairs with other trades and departments to ensure minimal disruption to campus operations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with formal electrical trade licensure or documented equivalent experience
• Proven experience with MV/LV switchgear and building power distribution systems
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driving privileges
• Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card for operating aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or forklifts
• Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs
• Ability to work in enclosed spaces and erect scaffolding per OSHA standards
• Proficiency with basic Microsoft Windows and Outlook
