Electrical/Automation Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on electrical and automation maintenance, including fault finding, repairs, wiring, and assembly of control panels.
• Provide automation coverage for maintenance activities, capital works, upgrades, and new equipment installations.
• Support commissioning activities and the ongoing optimisation of new and existing equipment.
• Coordinate and oversee external contractors when specialist support or additional resources are required.
• Collaborate with engineers and operations stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and improve system reliability.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and isolation plans to ensure safe work practices.
• Proactively identify risks and implement improvements to automation and safety systems.

Requirements

• Certificate III in Electrotechnology.
• Current A-Grade SA Electrical Licence.
• Post-trade experience as an automation-focused electrician in manufacturing, mining, or heavy industry.
• Strong experience with PLC and automation systems.
• Ability to work at heights, including crane maintenance.
• Proven ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specific exposure to Siemens automation systems.
• Experience with integrated automation, safety, and information systems.
