Electrical Systems Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, calibration, and inspection of electrical systems including relays, transformers, generators, and switchgear
• Conduct isolation and restoration of equipment to facilitate testing
• Execute removal and reinstallation of electrical bus connections, control power leads, and switchgear load/motor leads
• Perform functional testing and calibration of BES and non-BES relays
• Conduct specialized testing on instrument transformers, oil-filled transformers, and generator output buses
• Inspect and test generator internals and large motors using various diagnostic methods such as Megger, Hi-Pot, and EMSA testing

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Successful completion of the EEI TECH pre-employment test
• Valid driver’s license
• Journeyman Electrician (Production) or Journeyman I&C Technician qualification (or equivalent)
• Ability to work in extreme weather, high voltage, high steam pressure, and confined space environments
• Ability to climb and work at various heights and lift moderately heavy test equipment
• Availability for call-outs, long working hours, and extensive travel (50%+)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Journeyman System Protection and Control Technician (Relay Tech)
