Electrical Safety SME

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact on electrical safety and administer the LANL Electrical Safety Program
• Act as a resource for employees and managers regarding electrical safety concerns
• Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions
• Perform workplace condition inspections to identify electrical hazards
• Lead reviews of Integrated Work Documents (IWD) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
• Contribute to the development of codes, standards, and specifications for electrical equipment safety
• Provide advanced support to engineers and scientists in solving complex technical problems
• Participate in the evaluation of controlled items and services for compliance
• Perform calculations to determine electrical severity scores for incidents
• Develop written electrical safety policies, procedures, and design standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree)
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q level security clearance
• Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA (specifically NFPA 70E)
• Experience with electrical engineering/technology in low voltage AC and DC systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Expert communication and organizational skills
• Ability to pass Radiological Worker II training
