About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for protective relays, electrical protection systems, and associated control schemes.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and commissioning of protective relays, switchgear controls, and breaker trip circuits.
- Support the operation of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems by responding to faults and electrical incidents.
- Analyze relay event reports, oscillography, and SCADA/FMCS data to identify root causes and improve system reliability.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance procedures and technical documentation in alignment with NFPA 70B.
- Support Operational Technology (OT) and communications systems, including SEL communications and relay networking.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to maintenance technicians and contractors.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
- At least 3 years of direct experience working with protective relays and power distribution systems.
- Demonstrated experience testing and commissioning protective relays, switchgear, breakers, and transformers.
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and relay logic diagrams.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as relay test sets, multimeters, and meggers.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices including LOTO, arc flash protection, and NFPA 70E.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
