About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical expertise for electrical systems, including power distribution, grounding, lighting, and control systems.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to support installation and commissioning activities.
- Lead and mentor field engineering team members, providing technical direction and support.
- Coordinate electrical installation activities with construction, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams.
- Review design documents for constructability and identify potential conflicts or improvements.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and motors.
- Perform site inspections to ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, and NFPA standards.
- Conduct safety reviews for electrical tasks, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and arc-flash protection.
- Maintain accurate field records, including redlines, daily reports, and test results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 5–10+ years of experience in electrical field engineering, construction, or commissioning.
- Proven experience leading field engineering teams on large-scale industrial or utility projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E standards.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including weekends, depending on project needs.
- Ability to work effectively on active construction sites.
