Electrical Estimator

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing estimates for tender submissions on utility projects
• Prepare estimates of cost for materials, labour, and equipment based on contract bids and drawings
• Perform quantity take-offs
• Advise on tendering procedures and participate in negotiations under lead estimator direction
• Establish and maintain tendering processes and cost monitoring systems
• Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, and architects
• Participate in site reviews, tender hand-offs, and project closing meetings
• Maintain a directory of suppliers and subcontractors
• Obtain and compare subcontractor quotes
• Liaise with engineers and owners to prepare economic feasibility studies for cost adjustments
• Conduct site visits to gather information for estimates
• Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software

Requirements

• 1-3 years of estimating experience in Utilities or Commercial Construction
• Understanding of electrical systems and construction processes
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid non-graduated Class 5 BC Driver's license and driver's abstract
• Ability to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for site visits
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology or Construction Management
• Experience as a qualified tradesperson in the electrical construction industry
• Proficiency with recognized estimating software
