Electrical Engineer Substation Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead substation designs for major capital projects across Maine and New York, overseeing all phases from scoping and budgeting to construction and closeout
• Perform complex electrical engineering analyses, designs, and calculations using standard methodologies
• Create new conceptual designs and oversee the work of external detailed designers
• Ensure all engineering designs meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to department engineers
• Collaborate across departments and act as a liaison for contractors regarding company policy and best practices
• Solve unique and complex electrical engineering problems related to lines and power engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience
• Expert-level proficiency in physical substation design, project scoping, and estimating
• Expert-level proficiency in equipment specifications, construction/outage sequencing, and commissioning
• Expert-level proficiency in AC/DC loading calculations and adherence to codes, standards, and regulations
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and project management skills
• Excellent communication skills to articulate highly technical concepts to various stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) License
