About the Company

Orbital is an AI-first industrial company building hardware from the atoms up. We are developing critical hardware for AI data centers to make them more performant and sustainable, uniting AI-automated hardware engineering with AI-designed material science.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complete electrical system architectures for industrial equipment and automation systems
  • Produce detailed electrical installation drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts
  • Model electrical components and cable paths within Autodesk Inventor assemblies
  • Define control strategies, functional specifications, and instrumentation selection
  • Collaborate with client teams on PLC programming requirements and HMI architecture
  • Generate release-ready drawing packages including BOMs, cable schedules, and single-line diagrams
  • Mentor engineers and designers on best practices for electrical and controls installation
  • Champion design automation workflows with the AI team
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant electrical codes and standards (NEC, CEC, UL/CSA, NFPA)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • P.Eng. designation or ability to obtain it
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and controls design
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor or equivalent
  • Strong experience producing electrical installation drawings and industrial wiring schematics
  • Deep understanding of PLC I/O, instrumentation, VFDs, and safety circuits
  • Working knowledge of relevant electrical standards and codes
  • Experience with modular equipment, power distribution (480V/600V), and low-voltage controls

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor Cable & Harness
  • Experience with 3D panel design workflows
  • Background in HVAC, industrial equipment, or advanced manufacturing systems
