Electrical Engineer (Medium Voltage)

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end electrical design of the 13.8kV medium-voltage system
• Define MV architecture, single-line diagrams, and protection philosophy
• Produce protection coordination studies, relay settings, and MV electrical drawings
• Lead first energization, relay commissioning, synchronization, and load acceptance
• Manage generation, distribution, and protection of all medium-voltage power
• Oversee generator excitation, voltage regulation, and turbine control interface
• Handle switchgear and breaker systems, including generator and feeder breakers
• Perform fault-current management, interrupting-duty analysis, and equipment rating coordination
• Manage frequency control, synchronization, and load acceptance for islanded operation
• Select CT/PT, metering, and sensing infrastructure
• Conduct MV load bank integration, transient response, and step-load testing
• Develop neutral grounding strategies and ground fault detection
• Perform arc-flash hazard analysis and electrical safety system design

Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience with medium-voltage systems (switchgear, breakers, protective relaying, grounding)
• Experience with generator integration in industrial or power-generation environments
• Solid understanding of rotating machinery, generator behavior, excitation, and AVR systems
• Experience with protection coordination and relay selection/settings
• Ability to read and produce clean MV electrical drawings (one-lines, wire diagrams, panel layouts)
• Ability to work across mechanical, controls, and instrumentation teams
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual per ITAR/EAR regulations
