About the role
Responsibilities
- Design school bus electrical systems using advanced electrical engineering principles and techniques
- Develop 3D models, installation drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Research industry developments to implement low-cost, state-of-the-art alternatives to current production systems
- Provide technical support for production, warranty reduction, and field service corrective actions
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Field Service, Quality, and Purchasing departments to ensure seamless integration
- Interface with Test Group personnel to prototype new systems and apply development testing results to new designs
- Ensure all projects are cost-effective, functional, and compliant with all applicable regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronics, or automotive engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 3+ years of related engineering experience
- Proven experience in automotive design and troubleshooting
- Strong root cause analysis skills for solving complex problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAN communication network protocols
- Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink
- Experience using 3D CAD software
- Experience with PLM software for developing Bills of Materials
- Project management experience
