Electrical Engineer

About the Company

ETCH is a startup commercializing a radically new and efficient decarbonization technology for the simultaneous greenhouse gas-free production of hydrogen and solid carbon from natural gas.

Responsibilities

• Focus on development, testing, verification, and improvement of electric systems and instrumentation
• Design the electrical architecture of a scaled up heating system
• Author equipment and instrumentation hardware descriptions, requirements, and functional specifications
• Develop troubleshooting plans and calculation/analysis documents for design reviews
• Author factory acceptance test procedures and develop programs for instrument checking and calibration
• Design systems in compliance with regulatory requirements such as the National Electric Code
• Create and manage electrical construction documentation and coordinate drawings with other disciplines
• Collaborate in the technical oversight of external and internal design teams
• Facilitate assessment of customer needs and capture electrical design requirements
• Recommend process system design modifications to improve quality and lifecycle performance
• Lead reviews and presentations for internal and external design reviews
• Participate in Process Hazards Analysis
• Implement hardware following company policies like Management of Change and Lock Out/Tag Out

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering development experience
• Experience with industrial chemical plants
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
• Familiarity with industrial power (3 phase, 480V, transformer specifications)
• Ability to work safely in industrial environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces)
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Flexibility to work a schedule that may include third shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Joule heating
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus TCP and Serial
