About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced digital circuits, including microprocessor-based systems, FPGAs, and serial bus-based communications
- Design analog front-end signal conditioning circuits and acquisition/filter circuits for environmental sensors
- Perform simulation using SPICE or other time-domain circuit programs
- Program FPGAs or microcontrollers to collect and organize data via serial/parallel protocols (SPI, I2C, USB)
- Conduct hands-on testing and debugging of circuitry using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
- Execute board layout design, including trace impedances, routing requirements, and stack-up oversight
- Develop technical documentation and deliver presentations to peers and management
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to support multiple national defense programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline
- Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance
- Experience with circuit design and analysis, including FPGA and microcontroller architecture
- Experience with embedded firmware design (preferably VHDL)
- Hands-on skills in testing and debugging electronic hardware
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field
- Proficiency with design and analysis tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, and LTSpice
- Experience with PC-board layout tools like Altium, EAGLE, or Mentor Graphics
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot from the component level to the system level
