About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive board-level and module-level validation test plans for Waymo hardware.
  • Execute electrical validation tests for silicon, boards, and systems, covering high-speed/low-speed interfaces, voltage regulators, and power delivery networks (PDN).
  • Support hardware bring-up, debug, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Document validation results clearly and track bugs from discovery to resolution.
  • Enhance validation efficiency and scalability through the development of scripts and automation tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Electrical Engineering and software teams to meet key deadlines and priority goals.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware electrical validation.
  • Proficiency with bench equipment including oscilloscopes, DMM, e-load, power supplies, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and thermal chambers.
  • Practical knowledge of signal and power integrity (SI/PI) with the ability to identify risks through validation.
  • Ability to read and understand board schematics and layouts to identify proper probe locations and potential points of failure.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Allegro or Altium PCB tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience validating voltage regulators, including multi-phase VRs and PDN methodologies.
  • Ability to perform SI/PI validations using VNA, TDR, Scope, BERT, and probing stations.
  • Familiarity with high-speed and low-speed communication protocols (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, MIPI, I2C, SPI, GPIO).
  • Extensive electrical debug experience and familiarity with working in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with scripting and automation for validation processes.
