About the role
Responsibilities
- Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems from concept to completion.
- Perform calculations to size conduits, cable tray systems, and pull boxes according to Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) requirements.
- Develop and navigate 3D models to check for interferences and ensure constructability.
- Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate accurate cable schedules.
- Model electrical components using vendor submittals and electrical designs.
- Coordinate with project teams using databases to manage reviews, holds, and information requests.
- Analyze and inspect designs to ensure adherence to electrical quality standards and safety requirements.
- Act as a field resource to assist construction teams with real-time issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or College degree in Drafting and Design or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design.
- Expertise in the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
- Experience with underground designs from concept to completion.
- Proficiency in SmartPlant 3D.
- Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Experience with cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in power generation projects.
- Experience with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).
- Ability to conceptualize effectively within a 3D environment.
