Electrical Design Engineer (Highways)

Responsibilities

• Assist with ITS/technology design for roadside assets across the M25 network
• Produce drawings, documents, technical reports, and design briefs
• Support design reviews, optioneering, feasibility work, and QA activities
• Help with programme, budget updates, site visits, surveys, and inspections
• Contribute to CDM compliance, sustainability objectives, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• BEng/BSc/HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or similar
• Interest in professional registration with IET, IHE, or similar
• Basic understanding of ITS/technology systems and engineering standards
• Awareness of DMRB, MCHW, and related design guidance
• Good IT and Microsoft Office skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
• UK-based and legally able to work in the UK

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of CCTV, signals, VMS, ERT, or MIDAS equipment
• Awareness of the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
• Understanding of communication networks or cyber security principles
• Knowledge of CDM and health and safety legislation
• Experience from placements, secondments, or academic projects
• CSCS card registration
• Current UK driving licence
• Basic Microsoft Project knowledge
