Electrical Department Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a team delivering electrical engineering design and advisory services
• Oversee electrical scopes of work for complex industrial and manufacturing projects
• Serve as Engineer of Record and primary interface with clients and project management
• Support project pursuits by developing work plans, design schedules, and fee estimates
• Lead department activities including career development, mentoring, and recruiting
• Manage staff assignments to align with utilization and billability targets
• Ensure quality assurance for all department work products

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Professional Engineering License (PE)
• At least 10 years of design and consulting experience
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and win work
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff
• Commitment to a safety-first culture

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing electrical engineering staff and department billability
• Knowledge of power distribution systems and microgrids
• Experience with power generation projects exceeding 10MW
• Expertise in high voltage transmission or medium voltage distribution substations
• Proficiency in power system modeling software (SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower)
• Experience with SCADA, protection and control, or power system automation
• Knowledge of energy storage or cogeneration systems
