About the role
Responsibilities
- Partner with design engineering teams early in the NPI development process to influence component selection.
- Establish relationships with manufacturers and industry representatives to understand product roadmaps and availability.
- Work with sourcing teams to develop and ramp component sources for new products.
- Select strategic components to support product scalability for 5+ year lifecycles.
- Assist in developing commodity strategies focused on cost optimization, quality, and supply continuity.
- Identify and manage cost reduction opportunities on new and existing products.
- Manage risks in the supply chain by qualifying additional sources for critical components.
- Maintain active BOMs in electronic component database tools and manage the EOL Maintenance Process.
- Provide formal reports on obsolescence and environmental solutions (DMSMS, PCN, and EOL).
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in component engineering or related roles.
- Working knowledge of engineering documentation including schematics, component datasheets, and Gerber files.
- Experience with Arena PLM (or equivalent) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Ability to coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing environment.
- Proficiency with schematic tools such as Cadence, Altium, or Siemens.
- Experience with electronic database tools like Silicon Expert, Z2Data, or IHS Markit.
- Experience with MS Dynamics 365 ERP.
- Experience with Jira project and issue tracking.
