About the role
Responsibilities
- Audit electrical construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Perform site inspections and verify electrical installations and workmanship
- Enforce safe work practices and maintain accurate daily reports and documentation
- Review IFC drawings, specifications, and project documentation prior to construction
- Conduct field risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and contractor orientations
- Identify, document, and issue Safety and Quality NCRs and track corrective actions
- Monitor construction progress and document deviations from design or scope changes
- Verify installation quality and confirm materials comply with approved BOMs
- Perform final inspections, prepare deficiency lists, and validate as-built packages
Requirements
- Powerline Technician or underground equivalent certification (Lineman Ontario Provincial Classification, Journeyperson, or Red Seal)
- Over 3 years of relevant experience in hydro network construction sites
- Working knowledge of Electrical Utility Safety Rules (EUSR) and OHSA
- Experience in overhead and underground electrical distribution construction
- Knowledge of cable pulling, conductor stringing, and pole line construction
- Proficiency in reviewing utility drawings, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics
- Valid Ontario G-Class Driver's Licence with ability to travel to multiple sites daily
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and flexible hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Toronto Hydro Rule Book and THESL Distribution Standards
- Experience with switchgear, transformers, and protection and control systems
- Experience with underground utility projects, excavation, and municipal infrastructure works
