Electrical and Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and improve electrical power and communication systems for production units across the facility
• Serve as the primary electrical engineering resource for power distribution and industrial safety
• Maintain, improve, and deploy machine control code, instrumentation, and electrical subsystems
• Contribute to internally-developed software libraries used from research to production
• Gather and distill end-user feedback into actionable modifications

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
• 5-7 years of experience in a directly or related field
• Experience deploying code on systems that interact with the physical world
• Ability to write Structured Text and familiarity with IEC 61131-3 languages
• Strong understanding of field-deployed electronics, sensors, and motion components
• Implementation of industrial Fieldbus protocols (EtherCAT, Profinet, EthernetIP, Modbus, etc.)
• Familiarity with industrial electrical design, wiring diagrams, and control panel design
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), 79, and 70E arc flash protocols
• Understanding of Hazardous Area requirements (Class I/II, Div 1 & 2) and intrinsically safe wiring
• Understanding of machine integration with SCADA, MES, and ERP systems
• Proficiency in document control processes for as-built documentation
