ELA Associate Instructor

Responsibilities

• Co-teach four periods of ELA coursework following provided lesson plans
• Facilitate the use of technological resources for instruction
• Internalize and practice all lesson plans and materials prior to teaching
• Implement adjustments to pacing and activities based on student needs
• Project an energetic and approachable persona to promote student connections
• Collaborate with fellow instructors and attend scheduled meetings and professional development
• Meet with instructional coaches to receive and implement classroom feedback

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a content-related field
• Experience working with high school-aged students
• Proficiency in navigating technological learning systems
• Expertise in advanced high school-level English and Humanities
• Eagerness to engage in conversations regarding power, privilege, and oppression

Preferred Qualifications

• Education degree and certification
• Understanding of student-centered pedagogy
• Knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
• Experience with research-based, culturally responsive, and equity-driven instructional practices
