EHS Specialist

Responsibilities

• Manage hazardous materials storage, including required reporting and record-keeping
• Coordinate emergency response activities such as evacuation drills and evaluations
• Monitor chemical storage, recycling, and disposal processes
• Perform fire safety system inspections to ensure compliance with FDNY regulations
• Conduct safety site-specific training and maintain necessary documentation
• Participate in regular safety committee meetings and organize EHS events
• Complete internal audits for ISO 14001 compliance
• Investigate safety and environmental incidents
• Conduct monthly AED and First Aid Kit inspections
• Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly inspection logs

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or international equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience in a safety and/or environmentally focused role
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General and Construction Industry standards (29 CFR 1910 & 1926)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods to conduct facility inspections and audits
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in safety, environmental science, or a related field
• Completion of 40-hour HAZWOPER training
• Possession of an FDNY certificate of fitness
• Experience with ISO 14001 EMS and SMS compliance
