EHS Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Support site EHS programs and daily compliance activities including hazard recognition and inspections
• Assist with implementation of OSHA safety programs such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and fall protection
• Assist with OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program requirements for ammonia refrigeration systems
• Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and incident response as a member of the site emergency response team
• Deliver and coordinate EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors
• Conduct routine EHS inspections, audits, and monitoring activities for stormwater, waste, and air emissions
• Investigate injuries, near misses, and spills to drive corrective and preventive actions
• Partner with quality and operations teams to support compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and SQF

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in EHS, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or related field preferred
• 1 to 3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, food manufacturing, or industrial environments
• Working knowledge of OSHA general industry and EPA regulations
• Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, or SQF food safety systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work on-site in manufacturing and warehouse environments with exposure to varying temperatures and noise
• Ability to serve in an on-call capacity for emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration safety and OSHA Process Safety Management
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification
• HAZWOPER safety training
