EHS Manager

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and administer EHS programs to ensure occupational safety, life safety, and environmental compliance across NJIT operations.
• Foster a "culture of safety" among students, faculty, staff, and external vendors.
• Oversee routine and non-routine EHS projects, investigations, and campus-wide inspections.
• Manage EHS consultants, including establishing scopes of work, managing budgets, and overseeing project execution.
• Coordinate the collection, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste streams in accordance with US EPA and NJ DEP regulations.
• Manage signature programs including radiation safety, controlled substances, laser safety, and confined space programs.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for biological safety, chemical hygiene, and industrial safety.
• Deliver EHS training to the campus community in both online and in-person formats.
• Collect environmental and industrial hygiene samples and interpret results for professional reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a physical, chemical, engineering, or life science.
• 6 years of experience in environmental and/or occupational health and safety.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER/DOT certification and required refresher training.
• Comprehensive knowledge of US EPA, NJ DEP, and NJ PEOSH regulations.
• Proven experience administering occupational health programs and emergency management.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a physical, chemical, engineering, or life science.
• Professional experience, training, or credentials in Bio-Safety.
• Professional experience, training, or credentials in Air Permitting.
