About the role

Responsibilities

  • Partner with transaction teams to support the execution of Amazon’s due diligence program.
  • Review environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II), historical reports, and health-risk assessments.
  • Evaluate potential exposure risks from building materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and vapor intrusion.
  • Scope and manage Phase II site investigations and perform Vapor Intrusion Screenings.
  • Draft mitigation plans for contaminated soil and groundwater management during renovation activities.
  • Oversee the design and installation of mitigation systems, such as sub-slab depressurization.
  • Liaise with Real Estate, Legal, Construction, and Launch teams regarding required mitigation and ongoing oversight.
  • Provide technical review and feedback for work performed by contractors, developers, and consultants.
  • Assist legal teams with drafting protective language concerning hazardous materials and pre-existing contamination.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in due diligence, remediation, risk management, or contamination management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of ASTM Phase I standards and other environmental protocols.
  • Experience serving as a technical expert and developing environmental standards or policies.
  • Understanding of core business and legal concepts related to real estate transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related scientific or engineering field.
  • Experience working within a dynamic, high-growth organization.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple parties.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
