About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and training for environmental permitting and compliance at high-hazard chemical operations.
- Manage permitting requirements related to solid waste, wastewater, domestic water, stormwater, spill control, and air.
- Interface with site employees, corporate resources, regulatory agencies, and unit operations as an active member of the site leadership team.
- Develop and manage environmental programs and systems across the site to improve process safety management.
- Function as the site leader for the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Oversee regulatory compliance through 1st party environmental audits and participate in 2nd and 3rd party audits.
- Perform field monitoring, sampling, and use laboratory equipment to ensure the accuracy and integrity of testing results.
- Facilitate incident investigations and review regulatory briefs to anticipate EHS impacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or safety discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in an environmental-related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, laws, and standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently or within a cross-functional team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance with programs such as RCRA, NPDES, or Title V.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving highly hazardous chemicals.
- Sound technical knowledge of OSHA regulations and process safety management.
