About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the on-site environmental, health, and safety organization by developing and maintaining effective management systems
- Monitor and report EHS performance, ensuring site objectives align with corporate priorities
- Investigate accidents and high-potential incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective/preventive actions
- Drive site safety culture by encouraging and rewarding safe behaviors and engaging with staff on behavioral safety
- Manage the EHS department budget and ensure appropriate staffing levels and succession planning
- Implement crisis management processes and ensure effective business continuity and loss prevention plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, and HR to integrate EHS into site strategy
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding air, water, soil, waste, and sustainability
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Occupational Safety
- Experience managing EHS risks in the FMCG, Pharmaceutical, or a related high-hazard sector
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and risk management methods
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in the EHS field
- At least 2 years of experience managing a team
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Membership in professional organizations like ASSP or AIHA
- Experience using EHS tracking databases (e.g., EHS One)
