Education Specialist

Responsibilities

• Differentiate academic curriculum to meet the diverse needs of transitional aged students (15-22)
• Provide special education services through one-on-one and "push-in" service models
• Case manage student records, including maintaining up-to-date IEP files and inputting information into SEIS
• Lead IEP meetings and collaborate with the IEP team to develop student goals and objectives
• Administer academic diagnostic tests and coordinate information gathering with team members
• Collaborate with general education teachers to implement all aspects of a student's IEP
• Maintain accurate records of student progress in accordance with SELPA, state, and federal law
• Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for students, staff, and faculty

Requirements

• Valid Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential or Intern Credential
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in secondary special education with youth or young adults
• Valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to various sites
• Computer literacy including Excel, SEIS, and Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs)
• Ability to work in both community settings and correctional facilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations
• Knowledge of California and Common Core Teaching Standards
• Proficiency in trauma-informed teaching practices
