About the role
Responsibilities
- Differentiate academic curriculum to meet the diverse needs of transitional aged students (15-22)
- Provide special education services through one-on-one and "push-in" service models
- Case manage student records, including maintaining up-to-date IEP files and inputting information into SEIS
- Lead IEP meetings and collaborate with the IEP team to develop student goals and objectives
- Administer academic diagnostic tests and coordinate information gathering with team members
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement all aspects of a student's IEP
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in accordance with SELPA, state, and federal law
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for students, staff, and faculty
Requirements
- Valid Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential or Intern Credential
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in secondary special education with youth or young adults
- Valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to various sites
- Computer literacy including Excel, SEIS, and Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs)
- Ability to work in both community settings and correctional facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of California and Common Core Teaching Standards
- Proficiency in trauma-informed teaching practices
