About the role
Responsibilities
- Differentiate academic curriculum to meet the diverse needs of transitional aged students (15-22).
- Create and build upon curriculum based on individual student strengths.
- Provide special education services through one-on-one and "push-in" service models.
- Case manage student records, including maintaining up-to-date IEP files and inputting information into SEIS.
- Lead IEP meetings and collaborate with the IEP team on student goals and objectives.
- Administer academic diagnostic tests and coordinate information gathering with team members.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement all parts of a student's IEP.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in accordance with SELPA, state, and federal law.
- Maintain a safe environment for students, teachers, and staff in both community and correctional settings.
Requirements
- Valid Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential (or Intern Credential).
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with secondary special education youth and/or young adults.
- Valid CA driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to various sites.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Excel, Google Workspace, and online IEP records (e.g., SEIS).
- Ability to work in correctional facilities and underserved community settings.
- Ability to pass a Live Scan criminal background investigation and obtain jail clearance.
