Education Department Visiting Professor

Responsibilities

• Teach three undergraduate courses per semester required for teacher certification
• Align coursework and student support with state requirements for teacher certification
• Supervise teacher candidates during field experiences and other certification-related requirements
• Submit attendance, grades, student progress reports, and other required documentation
• Complete data requests and reports for grants and program authorizer responsibilities
• Support the Director of Teacher Education with data collection on program participants and alumni
• Provide academic advising to assigned students
• Participate in college-wide functions, regular faculty meetings, and department meetings

Requirements

• Terminal degree in an education field
• 3+ years of experience teaching or leading as a credentialed teacher in a K-12 classroom
• 3+ years of experience coaching teachers or leading teacher development
• Successful completion of teacher certification requirements, including state licensure assessments
• Recent experience or professional development in K-12 classrooms

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching or leading Educator Preparation Programs in Georgia or other states
• Demonstrated experience leading teacher development initiatives
• Experience involved in the evaluation of teacher candidates or Educator Preparation Provider programs through a state authorizing agency
• Demonstrated experience supporting teachers in the development of curricula and instructional best practices in urban K-12 classrooms

Benefits

• Salary of $70,000 plus fringe benefits
• One-year, 9-month appointment (August 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027) with potential for annual renewal based on performance
