Economist (Asia Edge Emerging Markets Frontiers) - Associate

Responsibilities

• Analyze macro and fundamental drivers of various economies, focusing on Asian frontier markets such as Bangladesh, Laos, and Maldives.
• Write regular economic analysis and contribute to EM Edge publications.
• Create and maintain econometric models and analytical tools.
• Collaborate with EM Asia, EM Edge, and other Global Research teams to formulate forecasts and views.
• Liaise with strategists and economists to provide insights for internal sales and trading teams.
• Interact with external clients to address customized research requests.
• Compile chart books and templates for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc publications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a research role (sell-side, buy-side, IMF, or central bank).
• Strong quantitative skills with a proven ability to analyze macro data and develop econometric models.
• Proficiency in statistical programming languages or packages, including Eviews, R, or Python.
• Deep knowledge of regional political, economic, and business trends in Asia.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with high attention to detail.
