Economic Development Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage economic development leads and projects by building relationships with state, regional, and local organizations.
• Implement strategies to stimulate economic growth and vitality within the Carolinas.
• Oversee project lifecycles from initial lead generation through to project commitment and closure.
• Act as a key subject matter expert on Duke Energy’s value, distribution, and transmission systems to prospective clients.
• Provide data, site analysis, and marketing materials to partners and economic development professionals.
• Maintain accurate project tracking within CRM systems and provide input for strategic planning.
• Represent the company at trade shows, client visits, and professional economic development organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or an adjacent field with at least 5 years of related experience.
• Alternatively, a High School diploma/GED with at least 10 years of related experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency with mapping programs.
• Ability to travel 25-50% to various field locations.
• Must reside within a commutable distance to a Duke Energy office in the Western, Piedmont Triad, or Charlotte regions of North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in project management for competitive industrial or commercial projects.
• Background in General Construction, Real Estate Development, or Project Finance.
• Understanding of the energy industry, including utility rates, power delivery, or customer service.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management.
• Proven ability to lead responsibilities independently and manage complex, multi-tasking requests.
