About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform ECGs and venipuncture on both inpatients and outpatients
- Manipulate and process laboratory specimens according to established protocols
- Operate and maintain various types of laboratory equipment
- Organize and arrange the transport of specimens
- Use hospital information systems to access and document all procedures
- Provide patient-centered care and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with IPAC
- Participate in the training of other staff members
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or a recognized equivalent
- Graduate of a post-secondary Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant certificate program
- Minimum of one year of related work experience in a laboratory setting
- Minimum of one year of recent experience in venipuncture, ECG, and specimen management
- Computer literacy in Windows-based applications
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MLPAO or CSMLS license
