ECG Technician/Lab Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform ECGs and venipuncture on both inpatients and outpatients
• Manipulate and process laboratory specimens according to established protocols
• Operate and maintain various types of laboratory equipment
• Organize and arrange the transport of specimens
• Use hospital information systems to access and document all procedures
• Provide patient-centered care and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with IPAC
• Participate in the training of other staff members

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or a recognized equivalent
• Graduate of a post-secondary Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant certificate program
• Minimum of one year of related work experience in a laboratory setting
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in venipuncture, ECG, and specimen management
• Computer literacy in Windows-based applications
• Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• MLPAO or CSMLS license
