About the role
Responsibilities
- Specify, implement, and maintain the Energy Management System (EMS) to ensure secure and reliable power system transmission.
- Maintain complex proprietary computer programs, SCADA, Network Model, and Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) databases.
- Perform primary responsibilities for EMS subsystems including Data Acquisition Control (DAC), Historical Data, GUI, ICCP, and Real Time Calculations.
- Conduct engineering studies and prepare written reports using power system analysis software such as PSEE or PSLF.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems within the EMS and manage infrastructure for disaster recovery and data backup.
- Develop custom applications to support changing operational requirements and system improvements.
- Perform integration and testing of new EMS upgrades and software patches.
- Coordinate with external departments for the commissioning of field devices and ensure data accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Fortran, Perl, Unix shell scripting, or Visual Basic.
- Experience with Unix and Windows operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL (including ODBC methods).
- Familiarity with communication protocols, networking concepts, and ICCP.
- Ability to work 24-hour standby as required.
- Proficiency using CAD programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot and isolate problems on a distributed computer network.
