About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee breakfast and lunch meal service operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery to patients
- Supervise and support catering staff across all kitchen stations during the early shift
- Ensure patient trays are assembled correctly in accordance with dietary requirements, allergies, and texture modifications
- Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards in line with HACCP guidelines and Food Safety Legislation
- Coordinate trolley collection, delivery, and dishwashing operations
- Liaise with ward staff and nursing teams regarding meal requests and dietary queries
- Conduct shift handovers and communicate operational issues to the Senior Food Service Supervisor
- Assist with basic data entry and meal charging processes
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service operations, hospitality, healthcare, or aged care settings
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support a team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of HACCP Food Safety Program principles and safe work practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Valid National Police Check dated within the last 12 months
- Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of hospital food service operations and patient dietary requirements
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
