About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing educational curriculum and supporting the operation of infant, toddler, preschool, or school-age classrooms
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
- Support child assessments and assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating children's activities
- Interact regularly with children and parents to support developmental needs
- Direct student staff and volunteers and provide feedback on their progress
- Maintain required records and ensure the classroom meets childcare licensing and accreditation standards
- Temporarily assume classroom leadership in the absence of the Early Childhood Program Specialist 3
Requirements
- One year of experience in an early childhood program and thirty quarter credit hours in early childhood development, education, or special education (or equivalent)
- Associates degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Development, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
- Ability to meet ECE Core Competencies or CDA requirements (12 aligned college credits or a CDA within 5 years of hire)
- Understanding of WAC requirements regarding staff health needs and preservice requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience with children in a group childcare setting
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young children
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in an educational or childcare setting
- Proven leadership and excellent communication skills with parents, children, and co-workers
