Early Childhood Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) in facilitating child development and implementing age-appropriate programs
• Facilitate cognitive, language, social, emotional, creative, and physical development of children
• Build meaningful relationships with children and maintain a warm, friendly environment
• Implement preventative health and safety measures, including safe toileting and diapering procedures
• Monitor cleanliness and sanitation of indoor and outdoor environments
• Maintain equipment, materials, and furnishings to ensure a safe space
• Build and maintain meaningful relationships with families and provide program resources
• Complete daily logs and program records for parents and staff
• Identify and report suspected cases of child abuse or neglect

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• One year of related experience in childcare or a similar setting
• Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Standard First Aid & Level C CPR certification
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical tasks such as room set-up

Preferred Qualifications

• Food Handlers Certificate
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for travel between locations
