DSM Program Inspector

Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC inspections of completed DSM program work for residential and non-residential projects to ensure PSC compliance.
• Manage contractor and vendor relationships, including recruitment, training, and performance monitoring.
• Document compliance results using specialized test equipment and provide follow-up to improve work quality.
• Act as a technical liaison between Duke Energy, local/state inspection authorities, builders, and contractors.
• Conduct residential and non-residential energy assessments and support Demand Response programs.
• Maintain contractor documentation, including business licenses, insurance, and background checks.
• Provide technical training to contractors and Duke Energy employees regarding building codes and energy efficiency practices.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
• Certified Energy Auditor certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electrical and HVAC mechanical operations, building construction principles, and building codes.
• Knowledge of utility regulatory environments and Demand Side Management (DSM) programs.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, lifting at least 25 lbs, and working in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear a respirator for extended periods in attic spaces or elevated temperature conditions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
