About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs
- Develop, implement, and review tailored care plans
- Administer medications safely, including detoxification protocols
- Provide education and support on harm reduction, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mental health professionals and security staff
Requirements
- Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Postgraduate qualification in AOD with minimum 5 years specialty experience, OR minimum 7 years specialist AOD nursing experience
- Proven experience in substance use or drug and alcohol nursing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and clinically sound under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-security or detention settings
