About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs
  • Develop, implement, and review tailored care plans
  • Administer medications safely, including detoxification protocols
  • Provide education and support on harm reduction, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mental health professionals and security staff

Requirements

  • Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Postgraduate qualification in AOD with minimum 5 years specialty experience, OR minimum 7 years specialist AOD nursing experience
  • Proven experience in substance use or drug and alcohol nursing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and clinically sound under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-security or detention settings
