About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform image data collection using high resolution cameras and thermal imagery using LiDAR, drone photogrammetry, and FLIR equipment
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight operations including airspace coordination and equipment assembly
- Develop flight plans outlining inspection routes, waypoints, and areas of focus
- Employ thermal imaging to detect anomalies or hotspots in utility infrastructure
- Execute manual flights for the inspection of power lines and poles
- Troubleshoot technical challenges such as signal interference or camera calibration
- Maintain supporting equipment including 4x4 trucks, computer workstations, and batteries
- Ensure data integrity through regular quality checks on image quality and sensor accuracy
Requirements
- Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License
- Ability to travel nationwide for extended periods, often for weeks at a time
- Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 60 lbs and climbing ladders
- Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions and around industrial hazards
- Ability to drive for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Applied knowledge of utility infrastructure
- Experience with GIS mapping
- Proficiency in manual flight maneuvers in narrow rights-of-way
