Drone Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day planning, scheduling, and deployment of Drone Pilots for missions, demonstrations, and field tasks.
• Manage and develop pilots and operations support staff through coaching, performance management, and training pathways.
• Oversee drone fleet readiness, including repair and maintenance schedules and serviceability status.
• Manage procurement and logistics for drone equipment, spares, consumables, and replacement cycles.
• Ensure all operations align with DroneShield’s ReOC, operations manuals, and SOPs in partnership with the Chief Remote Pilot.
• Maintain accurate operational records, including mission documentation, asset usage, and pilot currency.
• Coordinate with Sales, Programs, and Engineering teams to support demonstrations and delivery milestones.

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in UAS, aviation, defence, or high-compliance field operations.
• Strong expertise in scheduling, logistics, and live-operations coordination.
• Solid understanding of CASA RePL/ReOC requirements, including CASR Part 101 and aviation SOPs.
• Demonstrated expertise in practical risk management and safety implementation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current CASA RePL certification (or the ability to obtain one).
• Experience working alongside a Chief Remote Pilot in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience overseeing technical support or maintenance teams.
• Previous exposure to the defence, government, or critical infrastructure sectors.
