Driver/Material Handler

Responsibilities

• Drive the EMCO truck safely in compliance with company policy and provincial legislation
• Pick customer orders and load trucks with appropriate equipment
• Secure loads properly to prevent damage or shifting
• Complete pre-trip inspections and maintain driver logs
• Handle shipping documents including GHS classifications
• Unload materials at customer and vendor locations and obtain signatures
• Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers
• Provide sales leads by identifying prospective customers during deliveries
• Support Profit Centre activities and follow all safety regulations

Requirements

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s licence
• Clean driver’s abstract
• Knowledge of motor vehicle and commercial vehicle regulations
• Understanding of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle and material handling equipment
• Strong relationship building skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience driving a truck and making deliveries
• Knowledge of plumbing or building products
• Proficiency with Trend, Word, Excel, and Outlook
