About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support in drilling and borehole management areas to global wells teams using modeling and analysis.
  • Engage in offset well analysis to assist with well design criteria and provide recommendations to business units.
  • Monitor data and identify trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations to decision makers.
  • Model and analyze engineering parameters such as torque and drag, vibrations, hydraulics, hole cleaning, and wellbore stability.
  • Conduct pore pressure, fracture gradient, and in-situ stress analysis.
  • Utilize real-time and post-well data to monitor performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Collaborate with adjacent disciplines, including Completions and Operations Geology, to provide synergistic solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 7 and above.
  • 3-10 years of work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in well design, pre/execution planning, and writing procedures for drilling operations.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating critical design and operating parameters through data and trend analysis.
  • Knowledge of well construction, including drilling techniques, well control, and borehole management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant field experience at a rig site or wellsite.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Spotfire.
  • Familiarity with engineering applications such as WellCAT or WellView.
