Driller

Responsibilities

• Drill vertical geothermal boreholes to specification for residential and multifamily construction sites
• Operate and maintain drilling rigs and associated equipment safely and in compliance with local regulations
• Interpret site plans, drilling logs, and geothermal system designs
• Coordinate with field operations, site supervisors, and subcontractors to support project timelines
• Document drilling activity, soil and rock conditions, depths, and grouting data
• Ensure compliance with Maryland and local jurisdiction regulations and environmental protections
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior drillers or helpers
• Support routine maintenance of drilling equipment and vehicles

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in geothermal or water well drilling
• Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating with multiple trades
• Strong knowledge of drilling practices, grouting, and site safety
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and borehole logs
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
• Personal vehicle and ability to drive to job sites within approximately 75 miles
• Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead and perform sustained physical labor in all weather conditions
• Residency in or willingness to work in Maryland

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience drilling geothermal borefields for high-volume production
• Familiarity with loop installation and closed-loop geothermal components
• Familiarity with mud/air rotary, casing advancement, dual rotary, or sonic drilling techniques
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• CDL license
