About the role
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of drainage systems for major regional transportation and infrastructure projects
- Perform daily task management and provide mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Prepare hydraulic and hydrologic calculations for storm drains, detention facilities, culverts, and water quality features
- Develop storm drain plans, profiles, details, and specifications under the direction of senior engineers
- Coordinate with other design disciplines to ensure comprehensive project design
- Apply quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standard practices to all assigned tasks
- Assist in addressing design issues or constraints from clients and regulatory approval agencies
- Support proposal and business development activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in drainage, stormwater, or transportation design
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification and the ability to obtain a PE license
- Experience with storm drain and water quality design specifically related to transportation projects
- Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or Civil3D
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Bentley or Autodesk CAD software associated with transportation design
- Knowledge of standard DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic, and hydrology standards
- Experience with modeling software such as SWMM, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or ArcMap
- Strong written communication skills and experience writing drainage reports
- Ability to work independently and assume project responsibility
