About the role
Responsibilities
- Educate military members, veterans, and their families about brain donation and the Brain Donation Awareness Registry
- Lead community partner engagement and stakeholder coordination for assigned commands
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families, healthcare workers, and funeral homes regarding the donation program
- Screen donors, register study participants, and coordinate with coroners and medical examiners to facilitate donation
- Perform tissue recovery duties including verifying donor identity and reviewing consent documentation
- Section, process, and prepare tissue specimens for shipping according to project protocols
- Ensure all research activities comply with federal regulations, DoD policies, and protected health information (PHI) safeguards
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience in human subject research, tissue donation, clinical lab, nursing, or paramedic/medic roles
- OR Associate's degree plus 4 years of related experience
- OR 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating on-call basis
- Ability to work onsite, rotating between various partner locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in military environments and interacting with service members and their families
- Experience in the field of tissue or organ donation
- Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish
