Dog Trainer

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class dog training services using modern techniques and positive reinforcement
• Conduct one-on-one training sessions and lead group classes for pet parents and their dogs
• Complete Petco’s 6-week Dog Trainer Instructor Program (DTIP) and ongoing certification modules
• Recommend appropriate training classes and supplies to ensure successful pet training experiences
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions, progress, and client feedback
• Engage with guests to provide personalized solutions, including nutrition and wellness recommendations
• Collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to offer holistic health solutions
• Support store operations by maintaining merchandise displays and assisting with guest transactions

Requirements

• Passion for animal care, training, and welfare
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pet parents
• Demonstrated ability to handle dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds safely and humanely
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
