Dog Trainer

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class dog training services using modern techniques and positive reinforcement
• Lead one-on-one training sessions and group classes to enhance the bond between pet parents and their dogs
• Complete Petco’s 6-week Dog Trainer Instructor Program (DTIP) and ongoing certification modules
• Recommend appropriate training classes and supplies to meet the specific needs of pet parents
• Maintain accurate records of training sessions, progress, and client feedback
• Engage with guests to provide 360-degree personalized solutions, including nutrition and wellness recommendations
• Support the Pet Care Center by maintaining merchandise standards and assisting with guest transactions

Requirements

• Passion for animal care, training, and welfare
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with pet parents
• Demonstrated ability to handle dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds safely and humanely
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
